Valentine "Sonny" Heidebur Jr.

July 29, 1943 — July 18, 2024

St. Louis, Missouri

Valentine "Sonny" Heidebur Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away on July 18, 2024, in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. He was a devoted police officer who served the Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Precinct with honor for many years, rising through the ranks to become a Sergeant.

Born on July 29, 1943, in St. Louis City Missouri, Sonny graduated from Riverview Gardens High School before dedicating his life to serving and protecting his community as a police officer. He was known for his jovial personality and quick wit as a jokester, Valentine brought laughter and joy to all those around him.

Beyond his illustrious career in law enforcement, Sonny had a passion for music of all kinds. A convincing Elvis impersonator and well-liked DJ, he entertained many with his musical talents. He also enjoyed working with antique cars, building model cars, and spending peaceful days fishing. A skilled mechanic who loved tinkering with machinery, Sonny's curiosity led him to disassemble objects just to understand their inner workings better and put them back together. Sonny was also known for his culinary skills as a talented cook.

Above all else, he cherished his family. He adored his wife Carla beyond measure and their enduring love story was admired by all who knew them. The couple shared a special bond that was exemplified by Sonny's surprise recording of their favorite Englebert Humperdink song "Love Me With All of Your Heart". The surprise recording served as their first dance song at their wedding.

Sonny is survived by his beloved wife Carla Heidebur; daughter, Kimberly (Robert Joseph) Ens; step-son, Steven Strinni; son, Christopher Heidebur; son, James Heidebur; grandchildren Kayla (Nicholas) Cracchiolo and Shawna Heidebur; great-grandchild Jade Moon Cracchiolo; sister Judy (Jim Thiel) Farasy; brother David (Mary) Heidebur; his beloved dog, Remi; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Valentine Heidebur and Olive Heidebur.
