Vera Grace Crowell, age 89, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. She was born in Sand Ridge Township, Illinois on December 2, 1931 to Murray and Floy Mifflin (Gordon).
Grace, as she was always known, was the youngest of four children and the only daughter. Her brothers, Clarence, better known as Harley, Harry, and Jimmie Dean preceded her in death. She graduated from Gorham High School in 1949, and enrolled at Southern Illinois University where she met the love of her life, James H. Crowell. They were united in marriage on October 12, 1951, and moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where they raised three children. She spent most of her life as a care-giving Mother and in later years a devoted caregiver to James, whose long illness ended on December 19, 2003.
She leaves behind a son, James H. (Tammy) Crowell, Jr.; two daughters, Molly (Richard) Wacker and Melanie (John) Cooper; many grandchildren, Taylor (Frances) Crowell, Emily (Ashour) Rehana, Justin (Anna) Wacker, Erin (Jacob) Nallia, Bryan (Lily) Cooper, Matthew (Hollace) Cooper, and Ashley Cooper; and eight great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Crowell; and her parents, Murray and Floy Mifflin.
She will be buried along with her husband and other Crowell family relatives in Alto Pass Cemetery in Alto Pass, Illinois.
