Vernon Douglas Grant, age 81, of Lebanon, Missouri passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 in Springfield, Missouri. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 10, 1936 to William and Bertha Grant (nee Sutton).
Vernon was a self employed laborer for many years who was a Marine and also severed in the Air Force. He was married to Carol Grant (nee Brown) when she passed away on March 26, 2000.
Vernon enjoyed gardening, fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Sue Grant; father, William Manley Grant; mother, Bertha B. Grant.
Vernon is survived by his children, Debbie Silva, Kenny D. (Cynthia) Grant, Donna (Steven Schierding) Brinkmann; step-son John (Jill Martin) Grant; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ruth Ann (Doug) Roam and Richard (Nancy) Grant, and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral Ceremony will be 12:00 pm Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions 837 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, Missouri 63376. Visitation will be prior to the ceremony from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions. Interment will be follow ceremony at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with honors at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society 4215 Lindell Blvd. St. Louis, MO 63108 or the American Heart Association 460 North Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63141.
