Veselin Stojanov, 76, passed away at his home on December 12, 2020 in Wentzville, MO, surrounded by his loving family.
Ves came to this country from Bulgaria over 50 years ago, risking everything to give his young family the chance to grow up in freedom. The story of his and his family's escape from communism to the liberty and opportunity in the US would make for a thrilling novel. He overcame the obstacles of language and an unfamiliar culture, working hard and sacrificing to give his family a good life. Because family is what mattered most to Ves.
All that hard work paid off as his daughters grew up to marry wonderful men who love their families as much as he cherished his. They eventually gave him an even greater gift of three loving grandchildren, who were his greatest joy in his later years. Seeing his entire family seated around the table eating and laughing together was the thing he treasured most in the world.
Though his later life was a bit less adventurous, it was lived with no less care, retiring to the comfort of his home where he prized the view of birds and wildlife outside his window. He enjoyed sharing his home with his extended family and friends, even when those friends included an adopted colony of ducks.
Tech support, steak connoisseur, constant bearer of jokes and laughter and proud keeper of an impeccable yard, Ves was a source of steadiness to others in his life, leaving a strong family and a legacy of love and kindness.
He is survived by his loving wife Margarita (nee Galeva), his children, Daniela (Greg) Swetz, and Irene (Brian) Fabig, and his adored grandchildren Laura Swetz, Nadia Fabig, and Max Fabig.
