Victor Clement Maassen

July 1, 1931 — February 15, 2021

Victor Clement Maassen, age 89, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 in Saint Charles, Missouri. He was born in Bonnots Mill, Missouri on July 1, 1931 to Leo and Elizabeth Maassen (nee Boillot).

Victor is survived by his Wife, Marcella Mary Maassen of Saint Peters, MO, Son, Douglas (Jo Ann) Maassen, Daughter, Donna (William) Taylor, Daughter, Victoria Robb, Son, Sidney (Kristine) Maassen, Daughter, Sandra (Jim Lyberis) Maassen, Daughter, Lisa (Douglas) Kirkpatrick and a host of other family members and friends. Those include 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Leo Maassen; Mother, Elizabeth Maassen; Son-In-law, Mark Robb; Five Brothers, Harold Maassen, Wilfrid Maassen, Elmer Maassen, William Maassen, Homer Maassen; and Sister, Martha Bret.

Victor was known by many names: Victor C, Vic, dad, grandpa, and PoPo! He was known as a wonderful husband, father, friend, brother, and uncle. The roles of husband and father were taken most passionately as documented by a short note he left which was labeled "open after my death, dad"
"To Marcy and kids-First of all, I love all you guys, all 6 of you kids and Marcy. You have made my life happy and worth living. I love you very much and I thank you for all you have done for me. All you in-laws, grandkids, and great grandkids, I love you all."

Vic was married to his wife, Marcella for 69 years. He was most proud of this accomplishment and loved her dearly. They were high school sweethearts and were married at the ages of 20 and 19 respectively. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in November of 2021.

Vic never knew a stranger and would start up a friendly conversation with most anyone! His smile and humor were contagious and easily given. He enjoyed our large family gatherings and reunions as he was known as a family historian and story-teller. He enjoyed traveling in his early retirement to places such as Alaska and Texas.

Vic was a Navy veteran during the Korean War and he took that role seriously. He loved his country and proudly displayed the American flag. At many of his homes he had tall flag poles installed to proudly display the flag.
