Virginia Marie O'Day, age 73, of St. Charles, MO passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021.
Virginia was born December 23, 1947, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of Wesley and Iva Jean Isenhower (nee Uhlenberg). As a young girl, Virginia along with her 6 siblings grew up in several rural farming communities, in Northeastern Iowa. She moved to the town of Fredericksburg, Iowa when she was 15. Virginia graduated from Fredericksburg High School, in 1966. She later completed a cosmetology program in Waterloo, Iowa in 1967.
On February 22, 1969, she married Randy O'Day, at the Brethren Church in Fredericksburg, Iowa. To this union 4 children were born. In 1971, the couple moved to St. Charles, MO for Randy's job with Ozark Airlines. Virginia was a homemaker, hair stylist, and cashier for Standard Drug Store. Virginia was most known for her role as the "Neighborhood Babysitter" of Red Oak Estates.
Virginia was a sweet lady, with a kind soul, and would never hesitate to stop and say "hello", even to a stranger. She opened her home and heart to anyone in need of a "mother's love". Many neighborhood kids lovingly referred to her as "their second mom".
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Brian) Hamm, son Ryan (Mendy) O'Day, daughter Shannon (Jeff) Terbrock, son Darren O'Day; grandchildren, Austin Hamm, Tyler Hamm, Erin Lee (Ryan Eaton), Marissa Sharp, Ryley O'Day, Patrick O'Day, Donovan Terbrock, Daniel O'Day, Kinley Terbrock; great- grandchild Brayden; grand-dog Freckles; sisters Joyce Langfitt, Janice Grummitt, Barbara (Keith) Speicher; brother David (Sharon) Isenhower; her brother-in-law Bryan(Marilyn) O'Day; many nieces/nephews; and her special friend, Ken Schuster.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Randy O'Day in 2003; parents Wesley and Iva Jean Isenhower; her brother Dennis Isenhower, and Brenda Wurzer.
A celebration of Virginia's life will be held Friday June 11th from 5-9pm at PFEM Hall & Banquet Center, 115 McMenamy Rd, St. Peters, MO.
