Waymon "Tom" Blevins

February 15, 1946 — May 11, 2022

Waymon Thomas Blevins, age 76, of Saint Peters, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in O'Fallon, Missouri. He was born in Bloomington, Illinois on February 15, 1946 to Winfield and Mary Blevins (nee Daugherty).

Waymon "Tom" is survived by his Wife, Bonnie Blevins, Daughter, Gina (Timothy) O'Donnell, Daughter, Jennifer Weisar, Grandchildren, Melanie O'Donnell, T.J. O'Donnell, Gabriel O'Donnell, Virginia Weisar, Ron Weisar, Brother, Jesse (Maria) Blevins and a host of other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Winfield and Mary Blevins.

Waymon met the love of his life in high school against his will via assigned seating. The next 58 years his wife Bonnie was the absolute center of his universe, though to her frustration he refused to marry her until he had his degree because he wanted to make sure he could provide for her and give her the best life that he could.

Waymon grew up poor, losing his father at the age of eleven. His grandfather, Lenard Daugherty, became his father figure and role model. Through him, Waymon learned grit, decency, self-sufficiency, finding your confidence even when riddled with self-doubt, loving others more than money, and never holding a grudge. These values were a code he lived his life by, working hard to instill them in his daughters and grandchildren through stories, discussions and being a role model.

Spending much time on grandad's farm, he learned the value of true hard work and repairing things yourself whenever possible. Waymon loved to tinker and could fix almost anything. Often teased for his trips, and more trips, and one more trip, to the hardware store per repair. His repairs always functioned just fine, but sometimes waited for full completion until later, and many still await his completion today.

Waymon attended a one room country school through eighth grade before completing high school in Centerville, Iowa. One of Waymon's proudest accomplishments was putting himself through Indian Hills Community College (Centerville, IA), completing an Associate's Degree in Electronics. He was the first male in his family to earn a college degree.

Although he lived most of his adult life in the suburbs, his country upbringing and spirit remained a part of him through the end of his life. Music, especially country music, was his favorite pass time. If you ever rode in the car with him, he would never turn the music down, he would just ask you to talk louder so he could hear you and the song at the same time. He would tell you the history behind every artist, song, and lyrics to all of his favorites.

Waymon was a kind, humble man known for grabbing his keys and running to the aid of a loved one or friend in need, no questions asked. His family was blessed to have him in their life and he will be missed until we see him in heaven someday.
