Wayne K. Meyer

Wayne K. Meyer, age 78, of Weldon Springs, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in Saint Louis, Missouri. He was born in Enid, Oklahoma on October 26, 1943 to Oscar and Mildred Meyer (nee Schnackenberg).

His early life was spent growing up on the family farm in Douglas, Oklahoma. Being raised in God's word left him with a strong faith. Wayne graduated as one of twelve members of the final class of Douglas High School in 1961. He remained close friends with that group over the years and attended many reunions. Farming was not his ambition and he entered college to study accounting. He graduated Northeastern State University.

In 1964 Wayne married Judy Hansen. David and Lorri are the children from his first marriage that ended in 1983. 1984 was a big year of change as Wayne married Janet Naji, welcome Jan's son Robert and daughter Susan into his life, and moved to the St. Louis area to pursue his dream of serving God via the church. He served at Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Headquarters for many years. He especially loved his time supporting world missions and serving missionaries around the globe.

Wayne was always deeply interested in whomever he was talking to at the moment. Asking more questions and probing for every detail like the TV Detective Colombo, you knew he was focused on you and learning about your life.

Family was extremely important to Wayne and many of his favorite memories were growing up with his first cousins, Larry and Kenneth Echoff and Wanda Peters. He considered them his brothers and sister his entire life and loved them deeply. There were many road trips to visit family in Oklahoma and Missouri as well as frequent calls. It was not unusual for a call to go from a 15 minute chat to a 90 minute conversation.

Another passion of Wayne's was drama. It began with acting in church dramas as diverse characters such as Bartholomew, Peter, Caiphus, and the devil, to playing the same part as Karloff in Arsenic and Old Lace in community theater. His true love was directing and producing the yearly passion play for church.

Wayne will be deeply missed but he knew in his heart he will be reunited with friends and family in Heaven and we look forward to that meeting.

Wayne is survived by his Wife, Janet Meyer; Children, David (Laginia) Meyer, Lorri Obaseki, Susan (Bill) Van Veen, Robert Naji; Grandchildren, Kelsey (Robert) Josephson, Chandra (Danny) Snicker, Kristopher (Bri) Obaseki, Olivia Obaseki, Zachary Naji, Jackson Van Veen, Elicia Van Veen, Patricia (Gabe) Jezik; Great-grand children, Benjamin Josephson, Isaac Josephson, Ella Snicker, Grayson Snicker, Henry Snicker, Bryleigh Griggs, Abigail Alden; Sister-In-Law, Mary Ann Mayer and a host of other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Oscar and Mildred Meyer, and his brother Roger Lee.
