Alvin Wayne Miller, age 77, of Saint Charles, Missouri passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024 in Saint Charles, Missouri. He was born in Caraway, Arkansas on October 7, 1946 to Emery and Susie Miller (nee Calton).
Wayne loved to fish, play computer games, read science fiction, eat sushi, and "back in the day", play Rock Band for hours on end.
Wayne deeply cared about the outcasts of society, specifically, the poor, the drug addict, and the alcoholic.
He felt these folks' pain and suffering largely due to his own personal experience dealing with these difficult issues.
Wayne was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) for over 38 years. He was also an active member of The United Methodist Church (UMC) for almost 20 years. Through both these spiritual organizations, Wayne helped to bring several hundreds of people to a life of sobriety and peace. Wayne spent countless hours sponsoring both men and women in AA, teaching them the way of sobriety through the 12 steps and finding faith in a Higher Power. He absolutely loved all the folks he sponsored and befriended in both his beloved AA and the Church.
Wayne was also an avid dog lover, although he would never admit it. Through their almost 32 years of marriage, Wayne and Karen had nine "fur babies."
Alvin is survived by his Wife, Karen Edge; Sister, Norma "Chris" (Donald) Cook; Brother-in-law, Michael Edge; Four Nieces, Cara (Jon) Duffin, Lisa Miller, Tina Seller Brown (John), Amanda Miller; Two Nephews, John (Becky) Cook, Jeremy (Jami) Miller; Nine Great Nieces, Jennifer Miller, Courtney Miller, Grace Duffin, Kailynn Cook, Taylor Cook, Hannah Cook, Jayla Miller, Mackenzie Miller and Sammie Miller; Nine Great Nephews, Mikey Sellers, Brian Miller, Kevin Miller, DJ Miller, Michael Miller, Owen Duffin, Dallas Miller, Reed Cook and Rhett Cook, and a host of other family members and friends.
