William R. Woodard, Jr. of St. Peters, MO (formerly of Festus, MO) passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital at the age of 83. Bill was born on September 30, 1937 in Steubenville, OH to William R. Woodard, Sr. and Anna B. (Stephens) Woodard. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara L. Courtaway.
Bill was a proud American and a U.S. Army veteran. He retired in 1997 after 42 years with McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft/Boeing Co. He was a kind and soft-spoken man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. BBQs and fish fries were his favorite way to spend time with them. He loved working outside tending to his beautiful yard and flower beds. He was always busy with a project. He also enjoyed taking his dog, Hachi, for long walks daily. Bill will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Deborah (Crump) Woodard of St. Peters, MO; daughter, Kathy (Greg) Fisher of DeSoto, MO; son Brent (Rosemary) Woodard of Denver, NC; and daughter Stephanie (Sam) Scarpace of St. Peters, MO. He is also survived by his five grandchildren Chris Fisher, Tristin Woodard, Sierra Woodard, Makena Woodard and Sophia Scarpace and one great grandson, Langston Fisher. He is also survived by a sister, Jean (Wayne) Turley of Festus, MO.
Arrangements are under the care of Newcomer Funeral Home Mid-Rivers in St. Peters, MO. Bill chose to be cremated and due to current restrictions related to COVID-19 guidelines a memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. He was a loved and cherished member of a large extended family that chooses to celebrate his life together.
